Mill Spun CVM Yarn

In 2011 we added the first sheep to our farm, the endangered Romeldale CVM. We brought home one CVM ram, White Barn Farm Swifty, and four white Romeldale ewes.

Romeldale CVM is known for being next to the skin soft, beautiful crimp, and extreme loft.  The breed standard calls for a micron count of 21-25 microns.  They are currently classified as Threatened by The Livestock Conservancy

In 2019 The Livestock Conservancy will be running a Shave 'EM to Save 'EM promotion for knitters, crocheters, weavers, and all fiber artist to promote the use of rare breed wools.

This wool is from the Romeldale ewe SleepyThyme Star.  In June it was processed into roving at Mitten State Sheep and Wool in Coldwater, Michigan.  The yarn was handspun, long draw by our Shepard Ellen Zawada. **squish squish** The final yarn was hand painted In shades of orange to yellow that knits up beautifully.

  • Hand Painted by our hepard Ellen Zawada
  • 100% Romeldale wool
  • 2 ply 14-17wpi (sport/DK)
  • approximately 3.1 oz and 230 yards
  • Grown in Michigan

Zephyr Creek Farm utilizes regenerative agriculture techniques to heal the land.  Our sheep live on pasture year round, utilizing holistic grazing during the growing season and bale grazing during the winter.  Our passion is sustainable fibers and textiles.
